D-M active duty death Published June 13, 2007 By 010607 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- An Airman assigned to the 563rd Maintenance Squadron here died Monday at University Medical Center. Airman 1st Class Brian I. Santos, 24, was admitted to UMC early Sunday morning after suffering severe head trauma as a result of an alleged assault. The cause of death is unknown at this time and is pending autopsy. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation by the Pima County Sheriff's Department. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is assisting PCSD. Airman Santos, of South Gate, Calif., is survived by his mother and father, Anna and Douglas Santos. "This is a tragic loss for the Air Force and the Davis-Monthan team," said Col. Kent Laughbaum, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "Our hearts go out to the family of Airman Santos."
