Victims of a vehicle explosion were extracted by partner nations and U.S. forces at the Playas Training and Research Center during Angel Thunder 2015, June 9.

During this exercise, a security team patrolling a safe house hit an improvised explosive device. Rescue personnel were called in to clear the town and locate survivors.

While rescue personnel search from survivors they sustained enemy fire and called in air support. Two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, responded, neutralized the threat and secured the area.

The victims were brought to a casualty collection point where they were triaged and transferred to a U.S. Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk, U.S. Navy MH-60 Global Hawk, or a German CH-53 for a medical evacuation.
