D-M and military retirees circulated approximately $1.48 billion and helped create more than 4,200 jobs in the local area, according to D-M's Fiscal Year 2014 Economic Impact Analysis, released here June 8.

The EIA, an annual publication, is designed to inform the community of personnel assigned or employed at the base; annual payroll of all assigned and employed personnel; construction expenditures; and an estimated number and dollar value of indirect jobs created by D-M's presence in the community.

In fiscal year 2014, there were 9,934 personnel assigned and employed at D-M, including 7,019 military service members, 1,401 appropriated fund civilians, and 1,514 non-appropriated fund civilians and contractors. Their combined payroll totaled more than $541.8 million.

The EIA also provides information on D-M facilities and properties. The base operates and maintains 448 buildings, encompassing 4,808,669 square feet of space. D-M's footprint includes 5,952 acres of government-owned land and 4,578 acres of easement, rights-of-way and leased land, totaling 10,530 acres.

Of the 7,019 military service members assigned to D-M, 75 percent live off base.

All this information, and more, is available in the FY 2014 EIA posted on D-M's website. The direct link is: http://www.dm.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-150608-063.pdf
