D-M Airmen to be awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor

Two Airmen will be presented with Bronze Star Medals with Valor at a ceremony here at 2 p.m. June 2.

Colonel Sean Choquette, 563rd Rescue Group commander, will be presenting the medals to Captain Kevin Epstein and Technical Sergeant Brandon Daugherty both from the 55th Rescue Squadron.

The Airmen are receiving the Bronze Star with Valor for their actions while deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. The Bronze Star Medal is the fourth-highest individual military award, and the ninth-highest by order of precedence in the U.S. Military. It is being awarded with Valor for acts of heroism in a combat zone.
