ANGEL THUNDER to bring increased flying in Arizona

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Air operations will increase in Arizona from May 4-17 due to the 7th annual ANGEL THUNDER Personnel Recovery exercise.

ANGEL THUNDER is the world's largest Personnel Recovery exercise, integrating sister services and numerous state, national, multinational and interagency assets dedicated to saving lives in incredible circumstances.

There will be 23 additional aircraft flying into D-M and aircrews will follow standard D-M flight procedures throughout the exercise.

Air operations will consist of a variety of native and visiting aircraft including the A-10 Thunderbolt II, HH-60G Pave Hawk, HC-130J Combat King II, C-12 Huron, A-29 Super Tucano, EC-725 Super Cougar, and B-212 Twin Huey helicopter.

Base officials emphasize that modified flying conditions are temporary and standard for the ANGEL THUNDER exercise. All flights have been thoroughly deconflicted with area flights, in coordination with the Tucson Airport Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration.
