After nearly a year apart, it was an emotional moment when Staff Sgt. Amanda Cubbage, 355th Security Forces Squadron member and prior military working dog handler, was reunited with her MWD, Rick, Aug. 8. Rick was flown into Tucson, Arizona, from Osan Air Base, South Korea, after a lengthy adoption process.

Arming Airmen and ensuring our aircraft are ready to destroy the opposition is no small task and requires a great deal of teamwork.

The 355th Force Support Squadron hosted the Alpha Warrior Competition at the Haeffner Fitness and Sports Center here, July 21. In April 2016, Davis-Monthan AFB was one of the 18 military installations to be selected to host the battle rig competition.

From late June to late September, monsoon season not only brings with it heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, but also sends a surge of personnel from the 25th Operational Weather Squadron right to the unit’s operations hub. “It’s definitely a lot more busy,” said Airman 1st Class Cody Leahy, 25th OWS forecaster. “We issue a lot more watches, warnings and advisories for each zone.”

Starting July 31, 2017, Airmen undergoing their annual Periodic Health Assessment may notice something new. A Mental Health Assessment will now be part of every annual PHA, to help ensure that Airmen suffering from undiagnosed mental health issues are referred to the necessary care. Mental health issues are a serious problem for U.S. Armed Forces

Firefighters responded to a fire that was the result of a lightning strike at General William Blanchard Golf Course here last night. At approximately 11 p.m., the lightning struck a palm tree adjacent to the green area on the golf course's first hole.
