Airman dies after motorcycle crash

2/11/2012 - DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz -- An Airman assigned to the 355th Civil Engineer Squadron passed away tonight following a motorcycle accident in the vicinity of Saguaro National Park.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin are notified.

"My deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of this deceased Airman," said Col. John A. Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "Every Airman is an important part of the D-M family. This death is very tragic and is a sorrow the D-M family is experiencing together."

The Airman was transported by ambulance to the University of Arizona Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The accident is under investigation.
