354th Fighter Squadron returns from Kandahar Airfield
An A-10 touches down on the runway here after returning from a six month deployment to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan on Jan. 24. The 354th Fighter Squadron deployed 12 A-10C aircraft in support the first-ever basing of a U.S. Air Force fighter squadron in southern Afghanistan. C-130E in Haition relief mission
A C-130E from the 79th Rescue Squadron sits on the runway at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., Jan. 14. Another C-130E from the squadron participated in a Haitian relief mission during the evening of Jan. 13 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. During this mission, Airmen delivered more than 13,000 pounds of cargo to include vehicles and equipment. They also dropped off airfield operations personnel to help set up the airfield in Port-au-Prince and control the relief traffic in and out of the airfield. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Thunderbirds at D-M
Maj. John Gallemore, advance pilot and narrator for the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron “Thunderbirds,” interviews with Tucson’s media here Jan. 5 about D-M’s upcoming air show. During his one-day visit, Major Gallemore conducted a site survey in preparation for the Thunderbirds performances at D-M March 20-21. Major Gallemore flies the team’s No. 8 jet, which is an F-16 Fighting Falcon, Block 52. D-M will host the Thunderbirds first performance of their 57th season, which will bring them to more than 65 shows in 27 states and Canada, representing more than 700,000 Airmen, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and civilians. The theme of this year's show is "Davis-Monthan: Tucson Pride, Air Force Power." The Thunderbirds are based out of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.
