Fighter Wing Liaison

DM in Community The 355th Fighter Wing Liaison serves as the principal liaison for the 355th FW's leadership to the state, county and city political, governmental, business and citizen leadership. . Their mission is to maintain and enhance mission success and the long term viability of Davis-Monthan AFB through the proactive engagement of Federal, Tribal, Regional, State and Local Legislative, Statutory, Regulatory, Political and Community agencies and groups whereby they know and understand the concerns, positions and possible impact current and future legislation, zoning, planning and development may have on DoD's ability to successfully complete its mission due to land, air and electromagnetic encroachment.

The liaison office monitors a complex cross-section of external land use, development and citizen concern to provide input and impact of potential operations and developmental encroachment on the long-term viability of the installation's missions. The office directly engages on behalf of the wing with the state, Pima County and Tucson metro area businesses, land owners, developers and citizens in order to assist in managing and harmonizing installation missions with community growth for the greatest benefit of both DoD and the community. A key objective of this office in responding to concerns and questions is to expand citizen understanding, dialogue and problem-solving. Likewise providing input and impact on potential development and land use planning strengthens managed growth while protecting the economic impact and long-term viability of D-M. 

 
The liaison office additionally monitors state and local legislation, providing wing leadership potential impact on installation missions and DoD personnel. The liaison office coordinates with offices of technical expertise such as the 355th Operations Group,355th Mission Support Group, various installation tenant groups, Inspector General, airspace management, civil engineering and other installation organizations as necessary to facilitate the installation's interaction with city, county and state officials, and the citizens of Tucson.

tabD-M's Environmental Excellence Program  
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base strives to lead in the Air Force and local community for environmental stewardship. Environmental management considerations are fundamental and an integral component of D-M's policies, operations, planning and management and are designed to insure all actions are taken to integrate environmental accountability into the installation's day-to-day decision-making and long-term planning processes.
tabIntegrated Natural Resource Management Plan  
The Barry M. Goldwater Range Environmental Impact Statement for the Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan is now complete. The purpose of the EIS was to provide the government decision makers and the public with a range of reasonable alternatives for the BMGR INRMP and a fair and full discussion of the probable environmental impacts of implementing each of the five INRMP alternatives. As a result, the EIS includes important descriptive and analytical information documenting factors that are important in selecting a management alternative.
