Most people hear the words Apple and think either a fruit or an electronic device, but for the 924th Fighter Group it means efficiency. The “Termites” were chosen by the Air Force Reserve Command to be the test unit to work directly with Apple in the development of an Integrated Maintenance Database System application. This application will increase productivity for the Airmen who work on the flightline.

The legacy and heritage of the 355th Fighter Wing began Nov. 12, 1942, when it was activated as the 355th Fighter Group in Orlando Army Air Base, Florida. The 355th FG became fully operational on Sept. 9, 1943 at Steeple Morden, England. By war's end the 355th FG had destroyed 865 enemy aircraft and logged more than 17,000 sorties in P-47Thunderbolt and P-51Mustang aircraft. The unit was inactivated Nov. 20, 1946.

Exercise ANGEL THUNDER, a personnel recovery exercise focusing on Combat Search and Rescue, began operations out of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., Nov. 4. The 2-week-long exercise will join personnel from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines as well as personnel from Canada, France, Italy, and Poland to conduct training to prepare to support survivors, referred to as isolated personnel, in a deployed environment.
