DM will be opening the Swan and Craycroft Gates to the community for the Thunder and Lightning Over Arizona Air Show and Open House Nov. 6-7. The 355th Security Forces Squadron wants to remind visitors that everyone is welcome, but expect traffic and be mindful that certain prohibited items are not allowed.

Swan and Craycroft gates will open at 8:30 a.m., for Air Show spectators starting on Saturday, Nov. 6. and again on Sunday, Nov. 7.

“Please be prepared for heavier traffic than normal when entering DM for the Air Show,” said Capt. Matthew Weir, 355th Security Forces Squadron, operations officer. "Tucson Police Department and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department will be working together with the 355th SFS to mitigate traffic for the event."

Once parked, Air Show spectators will proceed to the entry control points for standard security checks to enter the Air Show on DM’s flight line.

“Once on base, expect Air Force personnel to direct you to parking areas. Be prepared to follow all direction given to you by traffic controllers and parking attendants.” said Weir. "Please be patient at the ECP’s as many people are trying to get in to experience the Air Show."

In order to expedite the entrance to the Air Show, guests are strongly recommended to minimize the number and size of permitted items.

All bags will be inspected for prohibited items and if any items are found, security forces personnel will give guests the option to return them to their vehicles for storage.
