The 355th Fighter Wing has implemented another Military-Community Compatibility Committee (MC3) recommendation by offering greater, more effective and varied forms of communication with citizens and community partners in Tucson and across southern Arizona.
Davis-Monthan AFB has enhanced its website, at www.dm.af.mil, by adding significantly more information. The Tucson community now has access to a regularly updated list of upcoming base events, an online form to submit comments and questions, detailed and user-friendly maps, informative briefings, historical presentations, community interest documents, and links to other community websites.
The new Davis-Monthan website offers an easy-to-navigate format, which conforms to the standard format of websites Air Force-wide. The site also features neutral, friendly and accessible language to more clearly communicate with the general public.
The 355th Fighter Wing has also added a telephone answering system to receive comments and questions after normal business hours, allowing citizens to voice their concerns at any time. Those who call after hours can expect a return call the following duty day. Citizens who wish to speak to a public affairs representative should call 228-5091 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Davis-Monthan AFB will continue to work with the City of Tucson to develop a hotline similar to the Mayor and Council Comment Line, giving citizens more options for gaining information, asking questions, or making comments.
"The Desert Lightning Team is committed to open communications and a strengthened relationship with our friends in Tucson," said Col. Kent Laughbaum, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "We will continue our aggressive analysis of the MC3 recommendations, not only as the implementing body, but also as responsible citizens in the community."
Thus far, Davis-Monthan has partially or fully implemented six of the 13 MC3 recommendations specifically under the base's purview.
If you have any questions, please call Janie McLaury, the 355th Fighter Wing Community Relations Advisor, at 228-5091.
