MWDs, handlers receive new training facility
DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. – The construction of a new military working dog training facility was completed here March 1.
The facility was constructed to replace the previously outdated training grounds utilized by the MWD handlers at the 355th Security Forces Squadron.

Students complete F-15E Strike Eagle training at D-M
Approximately 50 new pilots from the 334th Fighter Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., participated in a training course at Davis-Monthan AFB, Jan. 8-20.
The purpose of this two week training course is to teach student pilots and weapons systems officers what it’s like to deploy in a war-like scenario.

Thinking outside of the box: 355th LRS enhances deliveries using Wi-Fi
The 355th Logistics Readiness Squadron devised a new method that has changed its efficiency of delivering supplies to more than 250 organizations.
The approach of tracking deliveries through Wi-Fi developed when 355th LRS personnel discovered they were spending too much time finding signatures that were dropped on account of the outdated system.

“Don’t stop, won’t stop, keep fighting”
The 47th Fighter Squadron hosted a local Tucson child as part of the "Pilot for a Day" program, Dec. 4.
The program focuses on children of all ages who have terminal or chronic conditions. The goal of the program is to give each child and their family a special day and a break from the daily challenges they face.
The honoree for the day was Noah Hepner, 10. He was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, August 2015. He arrived at the base excited and nervous but he didn't face the unexpected alone. He was joined by his parents, siblings and two best friends.

Guardian Angel Combat Leaders Course put into action
It takes countless years of career field education, multiple deployments and temporary duty assignments to become a pararescue team leader.
The 68th Rescue Flight executed a 65-day course for ten pararescuemen in a newly-designed course to develop their leadership abilities while obtaining their 7-level certification for their dynamic career field.

Preparing the thunder
A new detachment here will aim to boost personnel recovery readiness across the military.
Detachment 1 of the 414th Combat Training Squadron, out of Nellis AFB, Nevada, was activated today.
The new detachment’s mission is to increase readiness by conducting exercises meant to train personnel recovery forces. Using an application of joint service, multinational, interagency combat search and rescue exercises the team will focus on training personnel recovery though a simulated environment and real world scenarios.
