Technical Sgt. Zan Heilman, an orthopedic technician, removes a cast from a patient in the clinic July 1. As an orthopedic technician, Sergeant Heilman can cast and splint a variety of fractures and/or soft tissue injuries, assist orthopedic surgeons while in surgery and hold retractors and assist with handling instruments during surgical procedures.
