Colonel CHARLES W. REDMOND

Col Charles Redmond is the 355th Wing Deputy Commander at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. Davis-Monthan AFB is one of the largest installations and flying operations in the United States Air Force, with five groups, 25 squadrons, and 34 mission partners comprised of 46,000 personnel, 152 aircraft, and $51 billion in assets. The wing provides A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft for close air support, forward air control, combat support, and medical forces for combatant commander requirements worldwide. Additionally, the wing provides personnel recovery combat search and rescue through the employment of HC-130J Combat Kings IIs, HH-60G Pave Hawks and Guardian Angel weapon systems, with units at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizonia and Nellis AFB, Nevada. The 355th Wing is also responsible for training A-10C pilots for the entire Total Force and is the Air Combat Command executive agent for Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces and Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty compliance.

Col Redmond entered the Air Force in 2003 through ROTC after graduating from Norwich University. He attended UPT at Moody AFB, Georgia and SUPT-H at Fort Rucker, Alabama where he was assigned to the mighty HH-60G. He has served in several operational squadrons, deployed multiple times in support of OEF, OIF, OIR and US AFRICOM operations. Col Redmond previously commanded the 55th Rescue Squadron, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona where he led one of the Air Force’s premier rescue squadrons that conducts day or night combat search and rescue operations into hostile environments to recover isolated personnel during war. Additionally, he has served on USFK U/C/J-5 staff where he was responsible for developing war plans and Headquarters Air Force staff where he led Agile Combat Employment and Logistics Under Attack capability development teams.
