The punishments imposed reflect the commander's determination of an appropriate punishment after considering the circumstances of the offense and the offender's record. The suspension period usually lasts for six months unless a lesser amount is specified. Article 15 Metrics: DM 90% Compliant The Air Force metric is to process 80% of all Article 15s within 30 calendar days. Article 15 Q&A Q: Can an Article 15 result in a federal conviction? A: No. While some of the punishments administered in an Article 15 are similar to those that can be adjudged at a court-martial, like forfeitures and reduction in rank, an Article 15 cannot result in a federal conviction. This is because of its forum. An Article 15 is "nonjudicial" punishment and therefore cannot result in a conviction.
