The Inn on D-M has done it once again. They have been named the winners of the 2012 Air Force Innkeeper Award in the large category for the second year in a row.

This accolade is awarded to the top lodging operations in both the small and large category. The large category, in which D-M competed, is entered by establishments with 286 rooms or more.

"It takes dedication to maintain Air Force Lodging standards every day," said Daniel Baker, 355th Force Support Squadron lodging manager. "To be the best, it takes exceptional commitment from every employee at every level every day."

The Inn on D-M competed against lodging operations from around the world to win the distinction. This makes for their first back-to-back wins at the Air Force-level. The inn has now won the award three times, adding to the already impressive seven wins the inn has racked up at the Air Combat Command-level over the past nine years.

"Consecutive wins validates the efforts of our whole team," Baker said. "Their hard work does pay off."

Each major command nominates a lodging operation within their command to compete for the award. From those nominated, the top four in each category are evaluated by a team consisting of Air Force and commercial industry lodging professionals. Each nominee is evaluated on their customer service, housekeeping, financial status, facility management, and related support activities.

"Our motto is 'AIR' - Always Innkeeper Ready," Baker said. "The evaluators said it definitely showed during their visit."

The award program is designed to encourage Air Force Inns to improve management and operation of lodging facilities at the 88 major Air Force installations. The award is given to the best in each category every year.

"It takes the support of the entire wing to be the best," Baker said. "Here at D-M we have always had superior support from the 355th FSS, 355th Mission Support Group, and the 355th Fighter Wing."
