Talent showcase to be held on D-M Published June 21, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Saphfire Cook 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Once again, Airmen, dependents and civilians will tune their guitars and warm their vocal chords for the 2012 edition of "D-M's Got Talent". The show is scheduled to be held June 28 at 6 p.m. at the mirage Club. The first "D-M's Got Talent" was sponsored by the Culture of Responsible Choices and held in August 2011. The event allows talented members of the Desert Lightning Team to perform before the base populace. "The whole showcase is about displaying the DLT's talent," said Master Sgt. Monique Harris, 355th Operations Support Squadron air traffic control training supervisor and CoRC president. "It gives Airmen a chance to show their individuality, which they may not be able to do in their workspaces." Last year, more than 100 DLT members came out to support the performers. The 2011 winner, retired Master Sgt. Jaqueline Pinkett-Smith, now a civilian with the 924th Force Support Squadron tenant unit on D-M, hopes to return for this year's completion. But it's not all about defending her title. "There are so many different genres and styles of music it's almost unfair to pick a winner and say "they're the best" because everyone brought something to the table," Pinkett-Smith said. "I just enjoy getting out there with so many talented people and seeing what they have to offer." This year's showcase is already slated to feature five acts. The final auditions are being held June 21, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Mirage Club. "Everyone should come out and enjoy this free show," Harris said. "Having the entire base come together gives everyone a chance to get to know each other and builds a sense of community." There will be free food and a cash bar provided at the event. "Bring your friends, bring your family, come out and have a great time." Harris said.
