The suspension period usually lasts for six months unless a lesser amount is specified. Probation and Rehabilitation (P&R) is a 6 to 12 month conditional suspension of the administrative discharge, similar to a probationary period. Under P&R, execution of the approved discharge is conditionally suspended to give the member a chance to prove that he or she is able to meet Air Force standards. Although P&R is an option for commanders in recommending administrative discharge, no members received P&R for any of the February administrative discharge actions.
