The presentation was sponsored jointly by the First Sergeants Council and the base Commissary. A representative from Pampered Chef, a company that performs on-site demonstrations of easy food preparation techniques, headed the demo. "Now that the chow hall is closed we wanted to give our Airmen some alternatives to fast food," said Chief Master Sgt. Bryan Blue, 355th Civil Engineer Squadron first sergeant. Liza Torpy, a retired military spouse, has been a representative for Pampered Chef for more than 19 years. She showed the Airmen in attendance how to make seasoned chicken tenders on the grill, mixed vegetables and apples with fluffy peanut butter dip. "My goal as a Pampered Chef rep has always been to teach people how to eat healthy," Torpy said. "I want these Airmen to see that it is fast, easy and budget-friendly to make healthy meals here in the dorms." Torpy also gave a tutorial of kitchen products, such as the use and care of non-stick pans. "What we wanted the Airmen to get from this experience were tips on kitchen safety, product use and innovative ways to cook in the dorms," Blue said. "They got all that and a good meal."
