Women’s health services available at D-M’s 355th MDG Published Jan. 13, 2012 By Maj. Shannen Wright 355th Medical Group Women's Health Nurse Practitioner DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The staff of D-M's 355th Medical Group announces that there are available appointments for routine gynecological care for female beneficiaries who are enrolled to a Primary Care Manager here on-base. The Women's Health Clinic is now open to all female beneficiaries, not just Active Duty members. Even if you are temporarily assigned to a PCM at Marana Healthcare off-base, you are still eligible to receive care for women's health-related issues on-base. The clinic is staffed by board certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse and Medical Technicians. Females from menarche (have started having menstrual cycles) to age 65 can be seen. Routine Well Woman Exams/Pap smears, birth control counseling/prescriptions, including Intrauterine Devices are available. In addition, we see patients for testing/treatment of urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted infections, as well as yeast/other vaginal infections. Evaluation for menstrual cycle concerns, menopause/hormone replacement and breast problems/lumps are also available. Complex gynecological problems, infertility evaluations and obstetrical patients are referred to specialists off-base. Pre-natal care is not available within the Medical Group. Patients are referred to a civilian OB provider off-base once results of a positive pregnancy test are obtained from our lab. Walk-in pregnancy testing is available during normal duty hours at the central check-in desk. WHC staff will notify you by phone of results. If positive, our clinic nurse will conduct a pregnancy intake questionnaire with you and then enter a referral for the OB provider of your choice. You may search the TRIWEST website for a listing of available network providers. Additional information is provided to you regarding available base resources, such as the OB Orientation Class offered by Family Advocacy. All prenatal care, delivery and postpartum check-ups are accomplished with the OB provider. After the six-week postpartum exam, patients are cleared to resume routine GYN care here on-base. A referral is not required to be seen in the WHC. Call the central appointment line at 228-2778 to schedule your appointment. Appointments are available Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. -4 p.m. All patients will check-in at the central check-in desk in Bldg. 420 and are then directed to proceed to the WHC waiting area. We ask that you arrive approximately 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment and not bring children with you. We also request that you promptly call to re-schedule your appointment if you do not think you will make it or will be late. The WHC staff is eager to provide you with the highest quality care and we look forward to serving you.
