Women's health services available at D-M's Med Group Published Dec. 20, 2011 By Major Shannen Wright 355th Medical Group DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The staff of D-M's 355th Medical Group would like to spread the word that there are available appointments for routine Gynecological care for female beneficiaries who are enrolled to a Primary Care Manager here on base. The Women's Health Clinic is now open to all female beneficiaries, not just active-duty members. Even if you are temporarily assigned to a PCM at Marana Healthcare off base, you are still eligible to receive care for women's health-related issues on base. The clinic is staffed by board certified Women's Health nurse practitioners, registered nurses and medical technicians. Females that have just begun their menstrual cycles to those age 65 can be seen. Routine Well Woman Exams, or Pap smears, birth control counseling and prescriptions, including Intrauterine Devices are available. In addition, we see patients for testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted infections as well as yeast or other vaginal infections. Evaluations for menstrual cycle concerns, menopause, hormone replacement and breast health concerns are also available. Complex gynecological problems, infertility evaluations and Obstetrical patients are referred to specialists off base. Prenatal care is not available within the Medical Group. Patients are referred to a civilian OB provider off base once results of a positive pregnancy test are obtained from our lab. Walk-in pregnancy testing is available during normal duty hours at the Central Check-In desk. WHC staff will notify you by phone of results; if positive our clinic nurse will conduct a pregnancy intake questionnaire with you and then enter a referral for the OB provider of your choice. You may search the TRIWEST website for listing of available network providers. Additional information is provided to you regarding available base resources, such as the OB Orientation Class offered by Family Advocacy. All prenatal care, delivery and postpartum check-ups are accomplished with the OB provider. After the 6-week postpartum exam, patients are cleared to resume routine GYN care here on-base. A referral is not need required to be seen in the WHC. Please call the central appointment line at 228-2778 to schedule your appointment. Appointments are available Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. All patients should stop at the Central Check-in desk in Bldg. 420. From there you will be directed to proceed to the WHC waiting area. We ask that you arrive approximately 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment and not bring children with you. We also request that you promptly call to re-schedule your appointment if you do not think you will make it or will be late. The WHC staff is eager to provide you with the highest quality care and we look forward to serving you.
