The Class Six Shoppette, located on Craycroft Blvd., has reopened its car care center with a grand opening held here Nov. 18.

The car care center closed in July of 2011 for major renovations to prepare for its partnership with Firestone Tires.

"The old car care center employed Army and Air Force Exchange Services employees and they were only qualified to do minor maintenance," said Ms. Karen Golloher, AAFES general manager. "The Firestone Complete Auto Care employees are Automotive Service Excellence certified mechanics."

The new CCC features a full range of automotive services from front-end alignments to engine repair.

"I needed some repairs done and had already gotten a quote from another automotive place," said Airman 1st Class Nicole Urreta, 355th Logistics Readiness Squadron. "When I called here, they quoted me almost $80 less. I'm glad that I can get my work done on base from now on."

The grand opening kicked off with a $500 donation to the Airmen Support Fund given by Firestone Tires.

"I was a senior non-commissioned officer here on D-M and I remember using the ASF when my Airmen needed assistance," said Mr. Kim Daniels, Firestone Complete Auto Care general manager. "It's a very valuable organization."

The Firestone Complete Auto Care center is open Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. and Sunday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.

"As a retired military spouse, I know how vital it is to have all you need right on base," Golloher said. "My car broke down twice while my husband was deployed and I didn't have a trusted business to take it to because there wasn't one on the base. That's what I want to provide for families on D-M, a professional establishment where they know that their matter will be handled with integrity."
