PDG delay will not affect promotion testing Published Aug. 26, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Saphfire D. Cook 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The shipping date for the print version of the current Professional Development Guide has been pushed back. Those testing for promotion must have access to the PDG at least 60 days prior to their test date, but because the electronic version is available on the Air Force Electronic Publishing website the delay will not affect testing dates. Promotion testers can still access the online version of the PDG via e-pubs, and have been able to since April 29. The postponement will not affect any test dates for the 2012 promotion cycle, the first of which is the 12E8 senior master sergeant. rotation. "I've been in the Air Force 17 years and I've learned that the only constant is change," said Master Sgt. Ahmad Rashard, a 355th Security Forces Squadron member who will be testing for senior master sergeant during the December cycle. "The electronic PDG is nothing more than a sign of the times." The online PDG is the most current and accurate version of the handbook, and its content is no different from the printed version. "I'm more of an old-school studier so I like to have a hard-copy," Sergeant Rashard said. "But the online PDG was easy to access and use. And like all things it has pros and cons. A definite pro is the interactive exercises portion, which you wouldn't get with a print copy." The printed PDGs were delayed due to the Air Force Publishing Distribution Center moving their central offices from Maryland to Missouri. They are scheduled to be released in December. "I don't feel that having to use the e-pubs PDG will hinder my testing in any way," Sergeant Rashard said. "Everything is done online now." The online version of the current PDG can be found at http://pdg.af.edu.
