The 355th Fighter Wing took the term 'wingman' to a whole new level during this year's Air Force Assistance Fund campaign by raising approximately $132,302, exceeding the wing's goal by more than $9,000.

The wing hosted several events to raise money for AFAF, including a burger burn and golf tournament.

"The Desert Lightning Team rallied in an outstanding show of generosity for this year's campaign," said Col. John Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "These funds not only take care of members serving today, but also our veterans and their families, embodying the wingman spirit of the Air Force."

The total donations made by the wing are still being tallied.

The AFAF is the Air Force's charitable organization which provides financial assistance, homes and care to members of the Air Force family. This program is funded by donations from Airmen, reservists and retirees.
