355th MDG No-Show Appointment Information Published Nov. 1, 2010 355th Medical Group DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- What is a No-Show? An appointment is designated a No-Show when a patient does not keep a scheduled appointment, shows more than five minutes after appointment time or cancels less than two hours prior to a scheduled appointment. Appointments scheduled for times prior to 9 a.m. need to be cancelled prior to the close of business the previous duty day to avoid a No-Show. Why is it important? The Medical Group is no different than any other wing organization. Manpower and budget constraints make every appointment important. Each appointment takes a minimum of four people to set up. The appointment clerk must make the appointment, a medical record technician must pull the chart, a medical technician must prepare the chart and the provider must evaluate the patient. Every time a patient No-Shows for an appointment, everyone's access to an appointment decreases. Each missed appointment costs you and your family members more in access to care, wastes time and energy, and translates into a cost of approximately $250.00. What can happen if you No-Show for a Medical appointment? Group commanders may be notified of No-Shows of Active Duty members, possibly resulting in disciplinary action. Active Duty members are responsible for their dependants. If an AD dependant has three No-Shows, they may be disengaged from the 355th MDG and will need to be seen by a civilian provider. Please help the 355th MDG to provide world class care. Do your part by being good stewards of U.S. Air Force resources. Realize that our goal is to provide the best care available.
