DM to begin 100 percent ID checks Nov. 1 Published Oct. 19, 2010 By Airman Saphfire D. Cook 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Davis-Monthan AFB will begin 100 percent identification checks of all persons entering the installation beginning Nov. 1. This new requirement will meet DOD directives and will help to ensure the safety and security of DM's personnel and resources. Please ensure that all motorists and passengers have their DOD/Federally issued identification before arriving at an installation entry point. Individuals 16 years of age or older without DOD/Federally issued identification will require a pass issued by the Visitor Control Center and may be subjected to a brief background check prior to pass issuance. To acquire a pass, visitors must be sponsored by an individual with valid DOD/Federally issued identification. Identification used to obtain a visitor pass can be a driver license, state issued identification card, U.S. passport, permanent resident card, foreign passport with temporary stamp, foreign passport with a current arrival/departure record or employment authorization document with photograph. Security forces anticipate delays at the visitor center and installation entry points during the socialization period, said Tech. Sgt. Andrew Odell, 355th Security Forces Squadron superintendent. "Extended wait periods are expected during high volume times," he said. Security forces hope to mitigate this by providing additional personnel at the visitors enter during peak hours. Visitor passes have varying durations. Regular passes are good for up to seven days. 30 day passes can be gained for visits to base housing or FAMCAMP. Passes for more than 30 days must be approved by sponsor's commander and staffed by the 355th Mission Support Group.
