Greg Poe to Fly at Aerospace and Arizona Days Published Dec. 8, 2009 By By 1st Lt. Catherine Warren Aerospace and Arizona Days Committee DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Aerobatic pilot Greg Poe will be one of several civilian pilots expected to perform at the Aerospace and Arizona Days (A&A Days) air show at Davis-Monthan March 20-21. Mr. Poe is a native of Boise, Idaho and started his flying career early by earning his private pilot's license while still a teenager. With a great love for flying, Mr. Poe has found himself immersed in all aspects of flying from towing gliders and aerial banner advertisements to piloting float planes and participating in aerobatic competitions around the country. All aerial experience led to Mr. Poe performing in his first air show in 1992 and ever since then he has been a full time air show pilot, performing in 15 to 25 air show events every year. "We are so excited to have Greg Poe back in Tucson this March," said Lt. Col. Tim Krauss, the air show's director. "He is incredibly talented." Mr. Poe is also looking forward to coming back to Tucson. "I've flown at the Davis-Monthan air show several times over the past few years," he said. "As a performer we seek out the best run airshows that know how to take care of the pilots and provide a good experience. That's why I'm looking forward to returning to the sunny skies and friendly people in Tucson." Mr. Poe pilots an Ethanol-Powered Fagen MX-2. Recently, Mr. Poe's life took at tragic turn when his son, Ryan, passed away after a long battle with heroin addiction. Besides performing in air shows, Mr. Poe has taken it upon himself to educate young minds about the importance of making the right choices with his "Elevate Your Life" program. While in town for the air show, Mr. Poe will also be visiting several local schools, spreading the word about the incredible opportunities aviation has afforded him and encouraging children to follow their dreams. "I am looking forward to bringing our "Elevate Your Life" youth program to the area and sharing some flights and unique experiences with young people from the Tucson area," said Mr. Poe. In addition, he has chosen Tucson as the location to kick of his 2010 "Endless Energy Tour." Also at the air show, attendees can expect to see performances by the A-10 demonstration team, combat search and rescue assets, a B-17 fly-by and a variety of civilian aerobatic performers. There will also be aircraft from the Navy, Air Force and Army on display from across the country. The larger aerial acts are still unknown at this time. Later this month the International Council of Air Shows will convene and schedule demonstration teams for 2010 air shows. Davis-Monthan's last air show was held in 2007. Aerospace and Arizona Days will be free and open to the public. Over the next few months, more information about the show, as well as descriptions of the aircraft and demonstration teams, will be posted at www.dm.af.mil.
