355th LRS facilitates commuter vanpool opportunity for D-M personnel Published June 15, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Jake Richmond 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Coordinated by the 355th Logistics Readiness Squadron here and funded by the DOD Transit Benefit Allowance, base servicemembers and civilian employees now have the opportunity to set up a group work-commuting service with Vanpool Services Incorporated. The TBA, established in 1998, allows eligible personnel to be fully financially compensated for the costs of VPSI's services. The maximum allowable benefit is $230, but the exact payable amount to each participant will depend on the number of riders in their vanpool. Any military or civilian federal employee on D-M, along with non-appropriated funds employees, can form a vanpool group of between five and 15 members. Once each group has designated one primary driver and at least one alternate driver, they're able to sign up with VPSI. The service includes insurance - $1 million coverage with zero deductible - vehicle registration, all maintenance, gas allowance via a fuel card, roadside assistance, customer support, and four complimentary taxi vouchers for emergency ride-home needs. Group commuters can save on fuel costs, wear and tear on their personal vehicles, and in some cases, can be eligible for discounts on their personal auto insurance. For more information about the vanpool service, contact Ms. Alice Lee-Cook, Southwestern VPSI business executive, at 281-463-9866. To register, call Master Sgt. Kevin Lussier of the 355th LRS at 228-3294.
