Col. Paul T. Johnson, 355th Fighter Wing commander, and 355th FW Command Chief Master Sgt. Thomas Schwenk visited four Airmen today and presented them with on-the-spot Stripes For Exceptional Performers promotions.

Two Airmen were promoted to E-7: Master Sgt. Robert Danylchuk of the 355th Security Forces Squadron (355th Mission Support Group) and Master Sgt. Diane Burleson of the 355th FW Staff Plans and Programs office.

Two Airmen were promoted to E-6: Tech. Sgt. Crystal Gardner of the 355th Maintenance Operations Squadron (355th Maintenance Group) and Tech. Sgt. Joseph Valdez of the 355th Force Support Squadron (355th MSG).

Also today, Master Sgt. David Stelling of the 563rd Operations Support Squadron (563rd Rescue Group/23rd Wing) received a STEP promotion presented by his group leadership here.

The STEP program is a unique promotion program. Every year, the Air Force releases a limited number of STEP-promotion slots, which are then divvied up between major commands and installation wings. Due to the short supply of stripes, wing commanders must be extremely selective in handing them out. To even be considered for STEP promotion, Airmen must have displayed outstanding professionalism and excellence in duty. Recipients are truly recognized as "exceptional performers."
