Update to D-M uniform policy Published Nov. 12, 2008 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The 355th Fighter Wing commander has determined, in accordance with recent changes to the Air Force uniform policy, that the standard uniform combination for all Airmen assigned to Davis-Monthan AFB is the short-sleeve blues shirt with open collar to be worn on Mondays. Personnel may wear an authorized outer garment while outdoors, including sweater or jacket (blue or leather), for personal comfort. Full service dress is worn for specific occasions as directed and not during performance of normal duty. A forthcoming policy letter will detail this guidance. Flight suits, ABUs, and BDUs remain the authorized Uniform of the day for duty days other than Monday. Entire organizations are not exempt from the new uniform policy. For example, aircrew scheduled or expected to fly (aircraft/simulator), crew chiefs, and HVAC technicians would wear a utility uniform on Mondays due to mission or safety requirements. Conversely, aircrew not scheduled or expected to fly, members of the Maintenance Operations Center, and Civil Engineer operations managers are expected to wear a blue uniform. Similarly, CONUS operations centers, even those supporting forward operations, are expected to make every reasonable effort to comply with this policy. These examples are not all-encompassing, but should guide any exemption discussions.
