D-M CFC campaign to kick off Sept. 10 Published Sept. 4, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Tim Beckham 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The Davis-Monthan Combined Federal Campaign kicks off Sept. 10 at the O' Club here from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and will continue through 24 Oct 2008. The campaign will reach out to more than 8,000 Federal employees and has a set goal of $435,000 for local, national, and international charities. Now in its fifth decade of operation, the campaign began in the early 1960's to coordinate the fundraising efforts of various charitable organizations so the Federal donors would only be solicited once. The campaign also gave them the opportunity to make charitable contributions through payroll deduction. "The CFC provides a unique opportunity for our Federal employees to donate to a host of charitable organizations that are involved in a wide range of activities," said Capt J.R. "Chia" Smith, 355th Fighter Wing Plans and Programs and Davis Monthan CFC officer in charge. "From finding a cure to cancer, to providing safe after school programs for our children, there not a person out there that has not been, or had someone close to them, affected by the programs supported by the CFC. And giving to the CFC through payroll deduction gives is extremely easy. It takes less than five minutes, but can give rewards that last a lifetime." The Officers Spouses Club, Airman's Attic, Airmen Against Drunk Driving, Family Advocacy, Airmen Family Readiness Center, Operation Warmheart, youth programs, and other morale and welfare programs are all agencies we can contribute to through the program. Federal employees continue to make the CFC the largest and most successful workplace philanthropic fundraiser in the world. It isn't the numbers but the spirit behind the gift. So, see your representative and let's continue a long-standing tradition of selfless giving. D-M CFC Group and Wing Representatives 355th Fighter Wing - Capt J.R.
