Flag football season preparations underway

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The 2008 intramural flag football season begins Sept. 22, with preseason games kicking off Sept. 15.

"We are expecting 20 teams to compete in this year's intramural league," said Senior Airman James Tarone, 355th Services Squadron fitness specialist.

Teams must have at least 12 players, in addition to their letters of intent received by the Benko Fitness Center no later than Sept. 5, said Airman Tarone.

Games are scheduled for 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday at the multipurpose field adjacent to the Auto Hobby shop, he said.

First, second and third-place winners will receive a trophy, in addition to commander's trophy points worth 5, 10 and 15 points respectively.

A coaches meeting will be held Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Benko Fitness Center to discuss the bylaws for the season.
