The best of both worlds, D-M Sergeant lives double life Published July 15, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Jamie L. Coggan 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Living a double life may sound like hard work, but for one D-M Airman, nothing could be more gratifying. Tech. Sgt. Gary Bonnett, an Intel Analyst, country singer, and spokesperson for the Air National Guard sang at the BX here July 12. People gathered in the food court to listen to the music. When the show was over, everyone had a chance to get his autograph and buy his CD. "I was really happy with the way everything turned out," said Sergeant Bonnett. Sergeant Bonnett had a new album come out June 1 and also got tasked to come out here to D-M and support the 214th Recon Squadron, doing Predator Ops for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. "Time management can be hard, but having two jobs that you really love is great and very rewarding," said Sergeant Bonnet. The independent label holder placed 3rd in the D-M Idol competition finals July 11. Sergeant Bonnet taught himself how to play the guitar and started writing songs when he was 16 years old. He is currently trying to get signed with a record label. Though he loves music, he keeps his dedication to the Air Force a priority. Sergeant Bonnett joined the Air Force in 2001. "Even if I become famous, I will try for as long as I can to stay in the military," he said. Sergeant Bonnett will be trying to put a full band together before his four month tour which begins in late September.
