John Wright USAREC USAREC -- Any active-duty military member from any branch of military service who is eligible may apply for Army Officer Candidate School. OCS is a 14 week long course instructed at Ft. Benning, Ga. It is designed to place the Soldier in and under the physical, mental and emotional pressure to simulate the stress and fatigue of combat. Upon successful completion of OCS, the Soldier is promoted to second lieutenant. Branch assignment is based on the needs of the Army; but the applicant is allowed to submit their choices. The Army attempts to meet the desires of the applicant with the needs of the Army. Upon selection to OCS, if the military member is an E-4 or below, they will be administratively promoted to the rank of E-5. The eligibility requirements are: - A baccalaureate degree or higher or - Active duty members who possess 90 accredited semester hours of college and a SAT score of at least 850 or ACT score of at least 90 may apply - ASVAB score must be at least a 110 in the GT section - A U.S. citizen - Possess or qualify for a SECRET clearance - Pass the Army physical fitness test - Be between the ages of 18 to 30 (age waivers are available for military members) - Have not served on active duty for more than 10 years (may be waived) If you have any question, call Army Captain Wright at 520-298-2836.
