Should Aero Club reactivate? Published Oct. 22, 2007 By Lt. Col. Bruce Black 355th Mission Support Group DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Several years ago Davis-Monthan had an active Aero Club. We are trying to determine if there is enough interest to make it worthwhile to reactivate the Aero Club. An on-base Aero Club would be a membership organization run by personnel from Davis-Monthan that would provide general aviation light aircraft that could be rented by pilots and student pilots. It would provide on-base Private Pilot ground school instruction and instructor flight training. It could be used as preparation for D-M personnel to pursue pilot slots in the USAF and for incentive flights for squadron and base award winners. DM Personnel could also Hangar or tie-down their own aircraft on base, with some necessary restrictions. There is a short survey on the Mission Support group web page to see if there is enough interest for a reactivated Aero Club. You can access the survey by going to http://www.advancedsurvey.com/. Upon clicking the link you will be prompted to enter Survey Number 56014. You will NOT have to enter a "User Name" or "Password" but just enter the Survey Number in the Survey Number block below the USER NAME and PASSWORD fields. This will give you access to the survey.
