AFCEC visits D-M

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. --  Fifteen civilian Airmen from the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Asset Visibility Team from Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, and three Air Force reservists from the 622nd Civil Engineer flight, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia, conducted built infrastructure assessments on building equipment and energy audits, Jan. 25 to Feb. 5.

The team also trained members assigned to the 355th Civil Engineer Squadron on facility condition assessments. Fifty-six facilities on base were assessed by the team.

"The goal of the trip is to complete energy and facility assessments here at D-M, help the Air Force and the 355th CES find ways to save money, and train 355th CES personnel on how to accomplish facility condition assessments" said Wes Somers, AFCEC, D-M asset visibility team chief.

D-M AFB was the third base that the team visited during the current fiscal year. The team visits 10 bases during the fiscal year, conducting these assessments and demonstrating to civil engineer squadrons on how to coordinate the assessments.

The 355th CES Airmen focused on electrical, mechanical, civil and fire protection systems assessments.

"From a standpoint of this training process, it benefits our Airmen by giving them a more in-depth look on the process and re-enforcing what they are already doing," said Greg Noble, 355th CES energy manager. "It targets our facilities, helps D-M with energy usage and it helps strengthen our energy program."

AFCEC missions includes facility investment planning, design and construction, operations support, real property management, readiness, energy support, environmental compliance and restoration, audit assertions, acquisition and program management.
