The Enlisted Spouses Association and the Base Exchange teamed up to host a fashion show Aug. 2.

More than 25 dependents and spouses walked down an aisle of the BX for patrons, showcasing clothing which could be purchased in the store.

The ESA is an organization on base comprised of spouses of the enlisted personnel in the Tucson area. They also include civilian and other service spouses.

"[The ESA] was looking for something fun to do and would help make people aware that we are here," said Teyaka Booker, ESA president, spouse of Staff Sgt. Terrance Booker, 355th Equipment Maintenance Squadron.

The ESA came up with the idea in May and contacted the BX to see if they would be willing to help them setup a fashion show.

"We are supposed to be holding fashion shows and they are a ton of work," said Alana Warfield, BX sales area manager for soft lines. "We were toying with the idea of putting one together, and [Booker] walked into the office at the right time."

The BX usually has one fashion show a year. This time, the ESA handled most of the responsibilities, from finding models to advertising. To make sure they had something for everyone, they opened up the modeling for kids as young as three to full-time moms who are students themselves.

"Both my kids and the two kids I babysit also modeled. I'm going to college for my bachelor's in business," said Amber Watters, ESA member and fashion show model. "I hope this gave parents around the base an idea of what the BX has to offer."

Those involved thought the show was a success.

"We plan to do this a little more often, probably around the key times of the year," said Booker. "We are hoping for the next one around Christmas to give people an idea of what to wear for holiday parties."
