Single and unaccompanied servicemembers stationed at D-M now have the opportunity to live in base housing.

Soaring Heights Communities officially opened its doors to all active duty, Guard, Reserve, ROTC recruiters and ROTC servicemembers June 23.

"Our homes not only offer convenience for single and unaccompanied servicemembers, but also a well-rounded community where they can really feel at home," said Lisa Sturgent, Soaring Heights property manager. "We're thrilled to welcome this new group into our community and share all the wonderful amenities that Soaring Heights has to offer."

At this time, the program is geared towards select, two-bedroom legacy homes in the Kachina Village area.

Tenants can choose to live alone at a rate equal to their without-dependent basic allowance for housing or room with another servicemember and split equally the lower ranking member's with-dependent rate. All leases have a one-year term and continue on a month to month basis and water, sewer, trash, gas and electricity utilities are included at no additional cost.

"Soaring Heights' mission has always been to provide support to the men and women at D-M, and also to provide exceptional housing for military members and their families," Sturgent said. "As we see a shift in the Air Force each year, and a decrease in the permanent change of station population, it's important for Soaring Heights to evolve as well. To afford the opportunity for housing to unaccompanied Airmen and roommates is a result of that change and also testimony to the strong partnership we share with the base."

Servicemembers currently living in the dorms should contact their Airman Dorm Leader to ensure they are qualified to move out of the dorms prior applying to live in base housing.

For more information or to apply, servicemembers should contact Soaring Heights at 520-745-5024 or visit the Welcome Home Center located at 8090 E. Ironwood Street.
