Camping and hiking are great ways to escape from a busy work week. It's a time to relax and relieve some stress, but first always remember to: · Tell someone where you are going. · Print out and take maps of the area. · Drink a lot of water! Your body can lose up to 4 liters of water per hour during strenuous activity. · Use sunblock, especially when at higher elevations. · Keep your tents zipped up to prevent unwanted visitors. (snakes, spiders, and scorpions, etc.) · Take breaks often to cool down when hiking long distances. Did you know Arizona is one of the hottest places on earth from June to September? Heat related illnesses are common during the summer in Arizona. Year after year nearly 800 people are admitted to hospitals because of heat related illnesses.
