On 27 April, the Davis-Monthan AFB Gospel Service celebrated its 41st anniversary on this base.

This milestone was noted by the Mayor of Tucson, Jonathan Rothschild with a proclamation declaring April 27, 2014 as Davis-Monthan Gospel Service Day.

More than 120 people participated, including some who have attended since the gospel service's inception. Three choirs, made up of Davis-Monthan Choir, Luke Air Force Base Gospel Service Choir and the Tucson Arizona Mass Choir, helped lead the worship.

The message was brought by Bishop David M.Copeland from New Creation Christian Fellowship in Windcrest, Texas, a suburb of San Antonio. Bishop Copeland, a former Air Force Chaplain encouraged the attendees to use their gifts and talents in the church and local community.

After the service, there was a fresh-cooked meal provided jointly by the Gospel Service women's auxiliary and members of the Evangelical Service. The whole experience lasted about three hours, and was a refreshing time for all.

The Gospel service is regularly pastored by Chaplain Charles Hollstein and Rev. Vaughn Price, and meets in the Hope Chapel at 1130. There are several other services that meet on base, utilizing both the Hope and Desert Dove chapel facilities and covering Catholic, Protestant and earth-based faith groups.
