General Education Mobile

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz.-- --  Education is highly encouraged if not recommended for military members. However with the uncertainty of deployments and extended hours, committing to a seat in a college classroom is pretty difficult.

The Community College of the Air Force has called upon 40 schools to offer the General Education Mobile program to active duty service members.

"GEM offers general education courses to meet CCAF degree requirements," said Larry Bearden Advanced Program manager. "It reduces the CCAF educational impact of deployments, Permanent change of station and family commitments."

To make things easier the courses are offered in mobile format, which is available anytime, anywhere, online.

"Airmen just need to log into their virtual education page and pick a school and start the process," Bearden said. "Start days vary by school, some offer classes every two weeks."
