Team D-M journeys through the jungle

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. --  Approximately 450 military members, spouses and children attended a community outreach and information fair hosted by the Airman and Family Services flight at the Mirage Club, Sept. 19, 2013.
The event, Jungle Journey, was held to provide families vital information about community services including early intervention programs, mentorship programs, counseling services, special education, school supports and more.

Tiffany Hornbeek, Exceptional Family Member Program family support specialist, organized the Air Force Personnel Center-funded event with the Youth Center staff.

She coordinated the journey in conjunction with several organizations to include: Club and Mountain View Conference Center, Outdoor Recreation, Youth Center, School Liaison Office, Hearts Apart and other on and off-base base agencies.

"We appreciate the wonderful turnout for Jungle Journey," Hornbeek said. "We especially want to thank the more than 40 Airmen, civilians and retirees who volunteered their time to make this event possible."

A bounce castle, balloon artist, arts and crafts projects, face painting, and a DJ were available as free entertainment and a jungle-themed buffet was available as well.

"It's really fun for the kids," said Luella Moore, a military spouse. "We know that every time they have events like this, they turn out great."
