The 354th Fighter Squadron here hosted members of the Tucson Padres and their families for a visit June 19.

The Padres visited the 354th FS along with Mike Feder, Tucson Padres general manager and 354th FS honorary commander.

The visit was organized to give the Padres a brief view of the mission of the 354th FS, as well as highlight the comparisons between sports and the military.

"Our visit is important because it illustrates how similar sports and the military are," Feder said. "Teamwork, planning, work ethic, etc."

The players' visit started with a briefing about the Bulldogs' stateside and deployed mission.

"I want our players to learn more about the military," Feder said.

As the honorary commander for the 354th FS and general manager of the Tucson Padres, Feder was able to help organize the visit to give his players the opportunity to learn more about the military.

Players even got the opportunity to visit the A-10 simulator here, where some were able to get into the cockpit of the simulator.

Feder has been an honorary commander for more than a year now, and draws inspiration from his contact with the Air Force through the program.

"It creates an awareness among the business community about the tremendous importance a military base provides from an economic standpoint," Feder said. "It also creates a bond with the military and Tucson."

After visiting the simulator, the players and their family members got to tour an actual A-10 static display.

"I now know the great work the 354th FS has achieved, and the type of people they are," Feder said. "There is no doubt in my mind that this squadron is the best fighter squadron in the United States Air Force."
