Civilian leaders take honorary command

U.S. Air Force Col. Robert Lepper, 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group commander, explains the significance of the 'Walls of Balad' to a group of honorary commanders as part of an AMARG tour on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., Dec. 5, 2012. The 'Walls of Balad' were the recreation room walls of the Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility at Joint Base Balad in Iraq. Patients, whether civilian or service members, were encouraged to write their prayers, thoughts and feelings on the walls, while they awaited transport to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
