354th Fighter Squadron returns from Kandahar Airfield
During the early hours of Jan. 21, members of the 355th Fighter Wing, family and friends, along with Tucson media, welcomed home approximately 225 Airmen from the 354th Fighter Squadron who returned from a six-month deployment in southern Afghanistan. The A-10C Thunderbolt II squadron from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., was the first U.S. Air Force fighter unit based in southern Afghanistan, a move that saved the lives of countless ground forces thanks to the faster reaction time provided by the U.S. Air Force.
