Colonel Kent Laughbaum, 355th Fighter Wing commander, uses an excavator to demolish the first home being replaced as part of the $300 million privatized housing improvements here Oct. 5. This demolition marked the first of 868 old housing units scheduled to be demolished to make way for more than 500 new homes being constructed as part of the multi-million dollar privatization project. The new homes will feature state-of-the-art ENERGY STAR appliances, home office space with technology niches, covered porches for integrated indoor/outdoor living and spacious master bedroom suites.
