POW-MIA Recognition Day 2009

Veterans of World War II and ex-POWs salute during the national anthem Sept. 18 while attending POW-MIA recognition day at Heritage Park. The United States’ national POW/MIA recognition day is observed anually on the third Friday of September. Many Americans take the time to remember those who were prisoners of war (POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA), as well as their families.
