D-M Airmen has great IDEA

Lt. Col. David Carlson, 755th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander, presents Senior Airman Aaron Cordroch, 755th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, a check for $10,000 from the IDEA Program here Aug. 28. After installing six exterior infrared sensors on the EC-130H over a course of a year, Airman Cordroch noticed a trend. Moisture was entering the sensor and significant corrosion was causing system failure. Airman Cordroch’s idea to implement the use of a special seal to protect the delicate instruments will save approximately $38,000. Estimated savings for the first year will be over $222,000. The IDEA Program stands for Innovative Development through Employee Awareness. This program is the Air Force’s way of soliciting suggestions to save time, money and lives. The program is open to all Air Force Active Duty and civilian employees. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Jacqueline Romero)
