A-10 Squadron to resume flying operations Published July 15, 2013 By 030713 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The 354th Fighter Squadron will resume flying operations here July 16. The Air Force Council approved the allocation of $208 million toward the buyback of major Combat Air Forces Flying Hour Program shortages. By the order of General Mike Hostage, Air Combat Command commander, all Combat Coded squadrons will begin the return to flying at full combat mission ready rates. Due to sequestration, ACC stood-down more than 17 squadrons April 9, to include the 354th FS. The squadron maintains 24 A-10C aircraft to conduct close air support, forward air control -- airborne, and combat search and rescue for theater commanders worldwide. The first production A-10A was delivered to D-M in October 1975.
